I move between painting, printmaking, assemblage and large-scale architectural interventions. Since 2016, I have developed an expanded painting practice using hand-cut vinyl stencils made from industrial flooring material, functioning simultaneously as printing tools, pictorial surfaces and reusable material fragments. Through repetitive and labor-intensive processes of rolling, pressing and layering, I manually print directly onto walls, canvas and paper. Oscillating between bodily gesture and mechanical reproduction, my works investigate the shifting relationship between ornament and structure, decoration and ideology, industrial production and sensuality.

The vinyl stencils are later repurposed within assemblages and spatial installations, allowing images and materials to circulate between different contexts and forms. Through this cyclical process of repetition, reuse and transformation, painting expands beyond the frame into an immersive and architectural field. Through layered compositions of ornament, vegetal forms, bodily fragments and decorative motifs, I explore forms of transcultural ornament and image circulation shaped by histories of trade, colonialism and consumer culture. Drawing from visual languages connected to batik, Art Deco, advertising and tropical modernism, my work traces how decorative forms migrate across cultures and histories, where ornament becomes entangled with sensuality, projection, exoticism and desire.

Ik werk op het snijvlak van schilderkunst, grafiek, assemblage en grootschalige architecturale interventies. Sinds 2016 ontwikkel ik een expanded painting practice waarin handgesneden vinylsjablonen, vervaardigd uit industrieel vloermateriaal, tegelijkertijd functioneren als drukinstrument, beelddrager en herbruikbaar materiaal. Via repetitieve en arbeidsintensieve processen van rollen, afdrukken en gelaagd opbouwen breng ik beelden handmatig aan op muren, doek en papier. Schommelend tussen lichamelijk gebaar en mechanische reproductie onderzoek mijn werk de veranderlijke relatie tussen ornament en structuur, decoratie en ideologie, industriële productie en zintuiglijkheid.

De vinylsjablonen worden vervolgens hergebruikt in assemblages en ruimtelijke installaties, waardoor beelden en materialen kunnen circuleren tussen verschillende contexten en verschijningsvormen. Via dit cyclische proces van herhaling, hergebruik en transformatie breidt schilderkunst zich uit voorbij het kader tot een immersief en architecturaal werkveld. In gelaagde composities van ornament, plantaardige vormen, lichaamsfragmenten en decoratieve motieven onderzoek ik vormen van ornament en beeldcirculatie die zijn gevormd door geschiedenissen van handel, kolonialisme en consumptiecultuur. Puttend uit beeldtalen die verbonden zijn met batik, art deco, reclame en tropisch modernisme volgt mijn werk de manier waarop decoratieve vormen migreren tussen culturen en geschiedenissen, waar ornament verstrengeld raakt met sensualiteit, projectie, exotisme en verlangen.
